Weighted Blanket Review

I’ve had my weighted blanket for four months and I thought I’d share a little review on how I’m liking it. I received my weighted blanket as a birthday present from my parents. I’d been wanting one because I’d read that they can help with insomnia, anxiety and can help improve sleep quality.

I received the YnM Weighted Blanket, 15 lbs, 60 in by 80 inch. It’s the perfect size for our queen size bed. The rule of thumb on the weight is 10% of your weight should be the weight of the blanket. I decided on the 15 pound because it was right in the middle for Steven and I.

When people ask me what the weighted blanket feels like, I explain that it’s a lot like the lead apron you get at the dentist when they’re taking X-Rays. It’s just like a constant weight and I think it’s hit or miss if you like this feeling or not.

So after sleeping with my weighted blanket for about a month –  I found myself waking up more. I tend to roll around and go from my back to my side to my stomach. Soon I learned the weight of the blanket was keeping me from easily rolling. When I did roll around in my sleep, I’d wake myself up. I prefer to use my weighted blanket for naps or for lounging around.

When I am attempting to take a quick nap, I find it relaxing and almost “safe” feeling. I personally love the weighted blanket for sitting on the couch and watching TV or napping. I know some love to sleep with it, but I learned it wasn’t for me. Gundy is also a fan the weighted blanket for naps. He loves to curl up under it on the end of the bed and take a little snooze. I think it’s like the thunder blanket effect for him.

Honestly, in the end I think it’s truly a personal preference. If you’ve been wanting to try it, I think it’s definitely worth it! Even if it is just for the best naps of your life.

Do you have a weighted blanket? What’s your favorite thing about it?
