How’s your January Whole30 going?

By now, you’re probably a week or two into your January Whole30. According to the Whole30 timeline, you’re either really tired starting to *hopefully* have boundless energy…and maybe some cravings.

I hope you’re powering through and slowly starting to find your non-scale victories. This round to be easier than the last ones, partly it’s been easier because we tend to eat pretty paleo most the year and I find it’s a lot easier when you have the support system.

Whole30 has done a great job sharing resources and creating a Whole30 community. I get a lot of inspiration from the Whole30 community on Instagram. I’m so excited to be hosting a Whole30 meet-up in Houston at Malk BevBar on Jan. 27. You can learn more here.

I know Whole30 is different for everyone and I wanted to share my experience this Whole30. As a reminder, in my Should You Do A January Whole30?. I talked about non scale victories I was hoping to have with my January Whole30.

I was hoping to:

  • End the fog
  • Slay the sugar dragon
  • Hit the hay, hard
  • Try new foods
  • Challenege myslef

I’m on day 13 and so far I truly believe I’ve powered through my fog and slain the sugar dragon. I’ve been offered macaroons, all the cookies and many other delicious treats. I’m only halfway in, but I have no problem saying no thank you to these foods. At the end of December, I was eating sugar probably almost every day, so I was really concerned that giving it up would be hard.

Since this is (I think) my fifth Whole30, I am more aware of what my SWYPO concerns are. It’s mostly paleo bread, muffins, etc. With the help of my old roommate, Emily, we made Nom Nom Paleo’s paleo potstickers. This was definitely a new food for me and a great experience learning to how to create a new and delicious paleo option.

Now, my Whole30 hasn’t been all butterflies and rainbows. I’ve had my fair share of cravings and rough days. On the days I have strong cravings, I honestly just went to bed, took a bath or chugged a la croix. I also definitely exeprieced “kill all things” and “I just want to nap” from the Whole30 timeline. I had two days where i was extremely exhausted and one day of crazy bitterness. Steven was enjoying some Artisan Tropic chips and I could hear him eating the chips…it was killing me that I couldn’t have a chip. Did i want a chip? No. but just the fact that i “couldn’t have one” annoyed me so much. Haha – i went to bed and got over it but it was an annoying bump in the road.

I hope your Whole30 is going well and you’re having lots of NSV! We’re almost half way there friends! I plan to write out my reintroduction plan to share with you all so we can do it properly and together!
