Review: Sustain Juicery

Sustain Juicery is a hidden gem in Houston. My coworker and I stumbled upon it while looking for a place to try acai bowls. We’ve been twice and have enjoyed it each time. I know it’ll be dangerous having this juicery so close in the summer.

What I’ve tried

The first time I went, I had the endless summer, whole fruit smoothie. It consisted of raw cococa, peruvian maca, coconut meat and banana. Honestly, it tasted like chocolate banana goodness. I love that they make the smoothie/juice when you order and you can see them grabbing fresh ingredients.

My coworker, Cara, had the land and sea wellness cocktail. It came in the cutest little mason jar shot glass and consisted of wheatgrass, spirulina, oj and ginger. I had a small sip and it was surprisingly delicious. I was worried it was going to taste like pure grass, but it didn’t and was pretty good.

The second time we visited, we both tried pitaya bowls. A lot like acai bowls, but less sweet. Pitaya, also known as dragon fruit, is a gorgeous pink color and absolutely delicious. I love that sustain allows you to “build your own bowl.” I can’t have granola (oats destroy my stomach), so it was nice to be able to order exactly what I wanted. It was like having ice cream for lunch, but with real ingredients. I had banana and strawberry mixed in and had it topped with banana, raw cocoa nibs and almonds.

Final grade

A+

The atmosphere makes it a great place to meet friends, grab a smoothie or juice to go or take a book and read. I really enjoyed Sustain Juicery and can’t wait to return!
